A gentle reminder that the classrooms are peanut and tree nut free areas, so please do not send in snacks with the students that contain nuts.

This blog will contain weekly updates regarding what the students are learning, pictures of different activities and projects, as well as resources for parents.  Please use the tabs for each of the subjects that I teach.

Dear Students and Parents,

We had an exciting end of the week celebrating with our 2nd grade buddies who have recently received the sacrament of First Communion.  It is a true blessing to see the older students interacting with our younger students in such a positive and kind way.
We also finished up our Rachel's Friends poster on our endangered species, the arctic wolf.  The students donated an incredible amount of money in support of different types of Cancer research as well as show their pride and support by dressing down those days.

We are very excited for both Field Day and the Race for Education this week.  Field Day will take place on Monday, May 15th.  Please make sure that students are wearing sunscreen as we are finally expecting some sunshine and warmer temperatures throughout the week.  The Race for Education is this Friday.  We are doing a phenomenal job raising money supporting the school and our implementation of MakerSpace and flexible seating.  It is not too late to give and support this great cause!
I am looking forward to a great week with all of the students and truly spending time in appreciation for the last few weeks of classes with our 8th grade students prior to graduation.  I hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful week!

Thanks,
  Mr. Joseph Miller

Week of May 8, 2017

Dear Students and Parents,

What an exciting week filled with two fantastic field trips and STEM night as well.  It was a blessing to be able to go on another buddy field trip and to witness our older students being such great role models and examples for our younger students.  Thank you to all who came and supported our first STEM night this past week as well.

These last 5 weeks of the school year will be filled with many more opportunities for the students to collaborate, engage in inquiry, and enjoy some hands-on fun and learning here at Saint Augustine School.  Check out the individual pages for the different classes to see what current units the students are focusing on in each of the classes as well as my Twitter @MrMillerSAS to see photos and updates on our everyday fun here at school.  I hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful week!

Thanks,
  Mr. Joseph Miller

Dear Students and Parents,

A special thank you to all of the Middle School parents who volunteered and helped to make this year's Science Fair a huge success.  I am so proud of all of the projects and presentations from our 7th and 8th grade students. Check out a few pictures from this year's Science Fair posted below.

The upcoming week includes a field trip for the entire Middle School to the Basilica in D.C., STEM night on Tuesday (6:00-8:00pm), and a field trip for the 7th grade and their buddies to the Chesapeake Bay.
I look forward to seeing all of the students this week and having the opportunity to have so many fun events planned for the week.  I hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful week.

Week of April 23, 2017

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome back from Easter break!  I hope that all of you had a blessed vacation and are excited to return to school for our last 7 weeks before the end of the school year.  We have a lot of exciting events coming up in the Spring including our 7th and 8th grade Science Fair this Thursday, April 27th.  We are still in need of judges for the competition, so if you are an interested parent who is STAND trained, please email me at jmiller@staug-md.org.  The Science Fair will take place from 12:30-3:10pm.  The students have worked very hard and are excited to share their experiments and results with all of you.  Here are a few pictures from last year's Science Fair posted below.

I look forward to seeing all of the students this week!  If parents have photos that they would like to share with me or the yearbook committee, please email me and I will forward them to the committee.  Have a blessed and wonderful week!

Thanks,
   Mr. Joseph Miller
